Head-to-head records: when H2H carries weight
Head-to-head games may reveal a particular tactical mismatch that is not visible against other opponents. However, changes in players, coaches, competition or even quarter length can make older H2H records irrelevant.
Exact H2H periods and quarter sequences
The total for the specific period and transitions between quarters are assessed separately. One example is what happened in Q3 after a low-scoring first half in this particular matchup. A rate of 4/5 needs an explanation in pace or tactics, rather than just the number itself.
When H2H disagrees
If head-to-head data points to OVER while both overall profiles point to UNDER, the model checks whether the reason for that difference still exists. With support from live data, H2H becomes a strong source of evidence. Without it, the disagreement is a risk that reduces the assessment.
What the model checks
- Current rosters and coaches
- The same home or away role
- The exact period, rather than only the final total
- H2H does not duplicate the same games in other evidence groups
